The June 6 event for developers: software innovations such as iOS 16 and iPadOS but also the renewed MacBook Air and Pro with the new processor developed in-house by Apple

Wwdc 22, the Worldwide Developer Conference, the annual appointment dedicated to Apple developers, in which the bitten Apple company announces the new versions and features of apps and operating systems, but in which it often also introduces some hardware news. Here is what was announced, in chronological order. Here we have collected all the news.

20.47 – Tim Cook concludes WWDC 2022 by recalling that the new Apple operating systems, from iOS 16 to macOS Ventura, will be available next autumn.

20.35 – We move on to iPadOs. On iPad comes Free Form, a very advanced collaboration app that allows you to share a virtual whiteboard with drawings, documents, photos with the work group while chatting about Facetime in a corner (Free Form also arrives on macOs and iOS). Also announced Desktop class app APIs – tools for developing iPad apps that are as close as possible to their Mac counterparts.

20.29 – Among the news here Continuity for Camera: you can use the iPhone as a webcam with another Apple device, complete with a dedicated support to attach to the back of the Mac (manufactured by Belkin). The iPhone ultrawide camera can even be used as an overhead camera framing the desk, to showcase a design from your set or a document. A small thing but perhaps the most innovative demo seen at this WWDC.

20.20 – Passkeys Apple’s move towards the Fido standard: replacing passwords with biometrics tools integrated into devices. Here you will find an in-depth analysis on how the system will work to abandon passwords and increase security.

20.13 – The time of macOS, the next version will be macOS Ventura (not the former coach Giampiero n Simona, but the Californian county on the Pacific). New for window management, improved search in Spotlight and Mail.

20.10 – I. prices of new Macs:
– MacBook Air M2, from $ 1,199
– MacBook Pro, $ 1,299
– the “old” MacBook Air M1 is repositioned for $ 999

20.02 – Here is the first Mac with M2: the new MacBook Air. All new design, flat like the MacBook Pro and no longer wedge-shaped, but very thin (11.3 mm and 1.22 kg in weight). 4 colors: gold, silver, gray and a beautiful black. The Liquid Retina display rises to 13.6 inches, reducing bezels, supports up to 1 billion colors. And finally the integrated webcam Full HD (complete with notch, Apple’s trademark now). Also improved the audio. Fanless design, completely silent. Battery up to 18 hours of video playback. And now the power supply has two Usb-C ports to charge the iPhone as well and there is support for fast charging up to 67 Watts. Ports: The beloved MagSafe is back and there are 2 Thunderbolt, plus the audio jack.

19.57 – It seems like yesterday that Apple announced its first M1 processor. And now we are at M2. the time of Macs, in short. M2 continues the discourse started with M1: giving more power but also and above all doing it by reducing consumption. The M2 promises to hit 87% of the most powerful 12-core notebook chips of the competition, but using just a quarter of the energy. The result is fanless computers that are quiet and super-efficient in terms of consumption, while still being very powerful.
M2 will have an 8-core cpu and a gpu up to 10 cores, with 24 GB maximum of memory (on Apple processors only between Ram and Gpu)

19.51. – Apple Watch e Health. Sleep Stages give more detailed data (deep sleep, Rem, etc) on the quality of sleep. For those suffering from atrial fibrillation, AFib history (which must be approved by health authorities) will be able to provide long-term and historical data.
Watch will now have a function Medicines so as not to forget the treatment plan and create a calendar. With the iPhone just scan the barcode of the drug to add it to your treatment plan.

19.50- The Fitness app will now be able to work also with iPhone, without Watch, using the phone’s sensors.

19-43 – the time for Apple Watch and watchOs 9. New Watch Faces (five) are coming to customize the watch. Small new graphics also for Siri and dock. It does not seem like an epochal version of watchOs, but on the other hand, the Apple watch is now a fully mature product. The main announcements focus on the front fitness, where instead there is room for Apple to compete with specialized manufacturers such as Garmin. For example, 3 new metrics for running arrive, which exploit the Watch sensors: one the oscillation of the trunk, the other the length of the step and finally the contact with the ground. In short, it will tell you if you run well or badly.

19.40 – a new generation of CarPlay, which will adapt to the giant screens and different shapes that are starting to be available on the latest generation cars. Minimal but rich and very customizable graphics. iPhone, communicating with the vehicle, will be able to display all the information of the car (speed, fuel consumption, etc). A completely different concept from the very simple one of the current CarPlay that will need close collaboration with car manufacturers: there are several brands already involved in the project (Mercedes, Audi, Porsche, Renault, Honda and many others).

19.37 – Space for home automation: Apple reaffirms its adherence to Matter, the protocol that from the autumn should become (hopefully) a sort of lingua franca for the smart home (Amazon, Google, Samsung and many other big names have also joined). A new app Home (Home) coming soon, totally redesigned and hopefully easier and more functional

19.34 – Safety Check a function to help those who are victims of domestic violence or stalking, to stop sharing content or position with people who are no longer trustworthy with a click.

19.28 – New functions of parental control for families: Usage time seems completely redesigned and improved. In Photo comes the intelligent sharing of photos, automated to certain users that we can choose: it is called iCloud Shared Photo Library, a shared album that can be accessed by up to 6 people, friends or family.

19.22 – Apple Pay adds Apple Pay Later which divides a payment made with Apple Pay into 4 installments (without interest). Within Wallet it is possible to track the shipments of an order paid with Apple Pay.

7.15pm – Some news for Messages, such as “Undo” to recall a message that has already been sent but is to be deleted. Then the news for Siri and dictation functions: now the keyboard remains open while you are dictating a message, to correct the wrong words on the fly. Live Text (the function that “reads” a text framed by the camera and converts it into editable text) is enriched with new functions: not only for photos but also for videos and with translations and currency conversions ready, at a distance of one touch.

19.12 – More interesting is the possibility of combining the new lockscreen with Focus, the evolution of “do not disturb” that arrived last year. You can have a lock screen linked to a particular time of day, work for example, set in Focus.

19.07 – The iPhone will have a all new lockscreen. Much more customizable with a real editor to modify not only the image but the colors, fonts and shading of the date and time. On the lockscreen you can place your favorite widgets to get information (calendar, weather, fitness, etc) at a glance, without unlocking the iPhone. Nothing revolutionary, we’re talking about features that have existed on Android for years, but iPhone users will be satisfied.

19.05 – We go to Craig Federighi inside the Steve Jobs Theater who, after a special effect from a James Bond film, talks about iOS 16the new operating system for the iPhone, coming this fall.

19.00 – We start with an introductory video. The camera approaches Apple Park, Apple’s spaceship headquarters in Cupertino, and Tim Cook gives his good morning as he walks inside the circular building. His speech centered on developers and Apple’s various initiatives around the world, from Detroit to Arabia (one of the first was that of Naples).

18.05 – This is the tweet with which Tim Cook greets the developers who will be attending the conference. Among other things, the CEO of Apple has also changed his profile photo on social media by adopting the graphic style of the Conference.
