The match report. Trentino Itas presents itself at the Sport Hall Indoor in Karlovy Vary (packed in every order of position) in a typical formation: Sbertoli on the dribble, Kaziyski opposite, Michieletto and Lavia in place 4, Laurenzano libero, Lisinac and Podrascanin (in his 100th appearance in yellow-blue) in the centre. ČEZ Karlovarsko replies with Keemink as playmaker, Sasak as opposite, Inhat and Juhkami as spikers, Zaijcek and Weir as central players, Pfeffer as libero. The Gialloblù’s start is very tight (1-4), also because Sasak suffered the hot arm and immediately lands the break point balls. When Juhkami too realizes the diagonal on rebuilt (2-6), Lorenzetti is forced to stop the game; fortunately another team returned to the field in the second half. Lavia leads his team to a run-up and to a draw which already reaches 10 between the Calabrian’s winning attacks and local mistakes. In the central part Trento digs the difference with Lisinac and Kaziyski, who is also felt against the wall (16-12); the hosts with Sasak go back up to 17-16, before leaving room for the opponents, who with the usual Lavia on the net and Kaziyski from the nine-meter line accelerate (20-16), effectively blocking the first set, closed on 25 -19 also thanks to the excellent entrance of D’Heer (a winning block in his entrance for this fundamental reason in place of Sbertoli).
The Gialloblù also raise their voices in the opening of the second set, taking advantage of the mistakes of the Czechs and the verve of Kaziyski (6-3). Lavia is unleashed and signs the +4 (8-4) which suggests Novak, the local coach, to stop the game. In the second half Lisinac signs two splendid aces for the 11-4 and the road to the 2-0 seems to be downhill, but in reality it is not like that; on 15-7 Trento, in fact, attention falls on the second line, favoring the comeback attempt of the red and white (15-10 and 16-12). Lorenzetti also interrupts the game, but has to wait a few more minutes before getting the welcome reaction from his players. Once again the Calabrian hammer takes care of removing the chestnuts from the fire (21-17 and 25-20), passing continuously in any position on the field.
In the third set, ČEZ Karlovarsko makes the maximum effort to try to keep the match open, sprinting very well from the starting blocks thanks to the block (2-5). At 3-7, Lorenzetti inserts the former player Džavoronok in place of Michieletto and the impact of Donovan is positive (6-9) but it is not enough to stem the push from the locals, who with Inhat and Wiese carry on their teams too by five lengths (10-15), before Lisinac and Lavia try to respond blow by blow (16-19). In the final the Czechs accelerate again with Sasak and take home the fraction on 21-25, prolonging the dispute (at least) until the fourth set.
Trentino Itas returns to the field very determined to block and counterattack, with Michieletto again among the starters. Within a few minutes we went from 2-4 to 8-4, with Lisinac standing up as the absolute protagonist in the net, well supported by the usual Lavia. Trento doubled the opponents several times (18-9 and 20-10) and finished smoothly on 25-13 to the applause of the large crowd present.
