Mosquitoes are the most annoying insects of the summer. Are we all in agreement? So a solution is urgently needed to remove them and defeat them. Among other things, this year Korean mosquitoes could also proliferate, quite dangerous, because they are carriers of a virus that causes encephalitis. Therefore, you must be careful not to put yourself in a position to get stung and protect yourself.

Fortunately, there are some foods that we can consume that seem to help ward off mosquitoes because they contain certain components that make our skin unpleasant to taste and smell. And such foods are available right in the summer season, so don’t hesitate to take advantage of them!

Those responsible for the removal are particular substances such as sulfur, lemongrass and vitamins of groups A and C. Scientists do not know how to explain what adverse reaction insects undergo when perceiving these substances but we do not care. You just need to get rid of the mosquitoes so you can take advantage of the warmth of the summer evenings.

Your diet and mosquitoes

There are several things you can do to keep mosquitoes away from you while enjoying the outdoors this summer. Eating certain foods appears to help keep mosquitoes away. These foods include garlic, peppers, citrus fruits and berries. Get ready to write a new shopping list.

Garlic has different nutritional qualities but unfortunately the fact that it leaves an unpleasant smell on the breath makes it a food to avoid, at least when we have social appointments. Yet it is that unpleasant smell that keeps mosquitoes away. In fact, garlic contains sulfur, which is a natural repellent for mosquitoes.

If we pay close attention, when we go to the natural spa that releases sulfur gas and our skin absorbs it, we hardly find a colony of mosquitoes nearby. For them, sulfur is really an unbearable substance and, consequently, they are very far from it. Lucky are the people who live near natural spas but everyone else has to eat garlic to protect themselves.

Peppers also contain repellent substances although they have not been specifically identified. But anyway, the important thing is to get rid of those annoying insects that sting us and create irritations that often struggle to heal. However, raw peppers must be eaten for them to have an effect, when cooked they seem to lose their anti-mosquito properties.

A decidedly more fragrant food are citrus fruits, which have lemongrass inside, a natural repellent for mosquitoes. We, on the other hand, like lemongrass because it is a typically summer fragrance, fresh and energizing. As an alternative to the candle we can eat citrus fruits, such as lemons, and ensure a natural mosquito barrier.

The berry season falls right to protect us from annoying insects. This time it seems to be the vitamins contained in groups A and C to protect us from attacks. And we can make extensive use of berries because in summer we find: raspberries, blackberries, wild strawberries, currants and blueberries. A delight for our palate and an enemy to defeat for mosquitoes.
