Written by aquitodovale

Xiaomi Redmi Note 11 Pro + 5Gleaving out the questionable name, is the latest device presented by the Chinese giant that aims to be among the best of the mid-range for this 2022. This smartphone can have its say in a market segment saturated with products, where the choice is increasingly wide and difficult. A Redmi Note 11 Pro + 5G nothing is really missingpower and quality make this device a papabile best buy thanks to some goodies that we will discover in the course of the review.

Design and packaging

The design of the phone is in full Redmi stylewith a back in polished glass and the rather protruding rectangular camera bump. The plastic frame houses the volume rocker and the on / off button that integrates a excellent fingerprint sensor. On the bottom side we have the USB / USB-C port, the first speaker in collaboration with JBL, the first microphone and the slot that houses the SIM and / or memory expansion. Top side we find the second speaker, the second microphone, the infrared port and finally the 3.5mm audio jack. The smartphone is waterproof, therefore resistant to splashes.

The display is large and the bezels reduced, while the selfie cam is integrated into a small hole in the center. The touch and feel is good, it holds well in the hand and the design is overall elegant. The dimensions of the phone are: 163,65×76,19×8,34mm for a weight of 204 grams.

Inside the package, in addition to the smartphone, we find the USB / USB-C cable, a transparent silicone cover, but above all the 120W power supply. This is the first truly interesting spoiler, which brings super fast charging for the first time even in mid-range devices.

Redmi Note 11 Pro + 5G comes with a 6.67 AMOLED HDR10 display inches with resolution FHD +refresh rate a 120Hz and 360Hz touch sampling rate. If this may not be enough, the panel of this smartphone reaches a peak brightness equal to 1200 Nits, according to the manufacturer. We are talking about a Gorilla Glass 5 certified flat double glass. In short, on paper we are talking about a truly top-of-the-range display to all effects.

The Redmi Note 11 Pro + 5G supports the DCI-P3 color space. There are three different color options: Vivid (default, DCI-P3), intense (DCI-P3 with increased saturation) e Standard (sRGB). The user can also change the color temperature for each of these modes. The refresh rate unfortunately it is not adaptive but statictherefore it can only be set at 60Hz or 120Hz.

Viewing the content on this screen is very enjoyable, the quality is excellent and the colors are well managed. Under the sunlight we did not encounter any problems thanks to the high brightness. In the settings you can choose between dark and light mode and activate the reading mode. Not missing the always on display and all the possibilities for customization based on user preferences.

Hardware and software

Xiaomi redmi Note 11 Pro + 5G is the most powerful of the range, thanks to the SoC Dimensity 920 of MediaTek which powers this device in an optimal way. We are talking about a medium / high level chip with a production process a 6nm and a clock rate of up to 2.5 GHz for the two largest cores and up to 2.0 GHz for the other six Cortex-A55.

The Dimensity 920 also uses four Mali-G68 GPUs which should provide a lot of power for a mid-range smartphone. Memory side the device is available with 6/8 GB of LPDDR4X RAM e 128/256 GB of internal storage memory UFS 2.2, but as we have already seen there is also the possibility of expanding the memory via Micro SD. On the connectivity side, the smartphone supports the new generation 5G networks (dual 5G), NFC and Bluetooth 5.2.

We have been using this smartphone for several weeks, it is in daily use no problems whatsoever were encountered as a bug or crash. The smartphone also performed well on the gaming side. The device is equipped with a cooling system LiquidCool Technology 2.0 which allows not to overheat too much and to maintain an average temperature even if under stress.

As for the software we find on board theto MIUI 12.5 (April patch) along with Android 11, even if Xiaomi promised the update to MIUI 13 soon. We know the user interface of Xiaomi very well and it is practically the same seen in the younger brothers.

The MIUI 12.5 allows a myriad of customizations and always results fluid and easy to use. There is no shortage of special features such as: Game Turbo, Video Tools, Center Camera Assistant, Pop-up Windows, Second Space and Lite Mode. As we have previously seen for the extensive customization of the always on display, the same thing goes for the home screen and for the themes and wallpapers.

If there is a sector where Redmi Note 11 Pro + 5G is in line with other mid-range smartphones, it is the photographic one. Overall we are talking about one good quality camera. The sub-fund consists of 3 bedroom configured as follows:

  • Main from 108MP f / 1.8
  • Ultra wide angle from 8MP f / 2.2
  • Macro from 2MP f / 2.4

With the 108MP main cam i overall results of the shots are good. The quality of detail, the management of lights and colors has been largely exceeded, especially when we talk about day shots. The results are better than other Redmi Note 11 Pro smartphoneswhich had instead fallen short of expectations. At night the main cam performs well, thanks also to the Night mode which significantly helps the sensor. There lack of a zoom lens is felt, but on the other hand it was difficult to ask for more from this Redmi. However, the digital zoom reaches up to 10X with satisfying shots.

The ultra wide angle cam delivers average shots, without infamy and without praise. With a lot of light the images are good and enjoyable, while with low lights the noise increases and the image quality decreases. Overall it’s an ultra wide angle sensor that it makes sense in this smartphoneas opposed to the latest 2MP macro sensor. The selfie cam mounts a Sony IMX 471 sensor from 16MP f / 2.4. The shots are excellent seen on the screen of the device, the same thing goes for the publication on social networks. Selfies with portrait mode are also good.

The camera software is the Xiaomi classiceasy, intuitive with the ability to improve the camera experience, especially for users who are already familiar with MIUI.

Videos are recorded at the maximum resolution in 4K at 30 fps. The general quality of the shots is excellent, as is the color balance, the detail and the sharpness of the images. Even the focus did not give any kind of problem. Video side a notch above other mid-rangers on the market. Do not miss the slow-motion, the short video mode and the VLOG mode.

Redmi Note 11 Pro + 5G mounts a 4,500 mAh. We are not talking about a very high capacity, but certainly this condition is healed by the fast recharge that reaches i 120W. So far, no mid-range smartphone on the market has such fast charging. Redmi Note 11 Pro + employs only 15 minutes to go from 0 to 100%. Despite this plus, the autonomy of the smartphone is goodsafely reaching the full day of use.

Price and availability

Redmi Note 11 Pro + 5G was launched at a price of 449.90 euros for the 6 / 128GB variant while it rises to 479.90 euro for the 8 / 128GB one. As a launch price we are perhaps too high, but today it is possible to find this smartphone at a much lower figure starting from 328 euroswhich makes it a real best buy.
