IONIQ 6, finally arrives the new and highly anticipated zero emission car from Hyundai, one of the most anticipated vehicles of 2022. The new model of the brand’s all-electric IONIQ range redefines the boundaries of mobility through numerous advanced technologies, customized features and spaces and a high autonomy.

About theautonomy completely electric, it reaches very high levels: the House estimates in fact over 610 km according to the Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicle Test Procedure (WLTP) standard. And that’s not all, because the car also offers ultra-fast multiple charging capability – 400-V / 800-V – made possible by Hyundai Motor Group’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP). The model for 2022 has a style that we can consider the most aerodynamic ever expressed from Hyundai to date; there are also many advanced features offered by this car launched today as a world premiere, such as Dual Color Ambient Lighting, Speed Sync lighting, EV Performance Tune-up and Electric Active Sound Design (e-ASD), to provide an incredible electric mobility experience.

Experience on board and interiors

Jaehoon Chang, President and CEO of Hyundai Motor Company, said, “IONIQ 6 is the ambitious new step in Hyundai’s strategy to accelerate its transition to electrification and a global leading role in electric vehicles. The Electrified Streamliner delivers a unique and distinctive experience for drivers and passengers, optimized in every respect to redefine electric mobility “.

The interior of IONIQ 6 have been developed in a particular way, the House wanted to recreate a sort of comfortable and personalized refuge for its customers. The Dual Color Ambient Lighting allows the driver to change the perception of the passenger compartment according to his preferences, choosing from a spectrum of 64 different colors and 6 pre-selected themes. Speed Sync Lighting mode adds excitement to the driving experience by changing the lighting around the front seats based on vehicle speed.

The power of Hyundai IONIQ 6

The car is available with a range of motors and battery packs able to meet the needs of each customer. The 77.4 kWh long-range battery can be paired with two electric motor layouts, rear-wheel drive (RWD) with a single motor or all-wheel drive (AWD) with two motors. The top-of-the-range AWD twin-engine configuration is capable of unleashing the exceptional combined power of 239 kW and 605 Nm of torque, and triggers the car from 0 to 100 km / h in just 5.1 seconds.

The levels of consumption of the vehicle are impressive, the version with a standard 53 kWh battery, 18-inch tires and RWD configuration is below 14 kWh / 100 km, according to the WLTP standard. For this we can say that Hyundai’s new electric is already defined as one of the most energy efficient cars on the market. Fast charging makes it even more usable: with a 350 kW charger, the IONIQ 6 can be recharged from 10% to 80% in just 18 minutes.

Assisted driving safety systems

IONIQ 6, which Hyundai has been talking about for months now, is equipped with the updated version of Hyundai SmartSense, Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, which ensure safety and comfort on the road. Highway Driving Assist 2 (HDA 2) it helps to maintain a predetermined distance from the vehicle in front and a predetermined speed when driving on the motorway, as well as to keep the vehicle in the center of the lane, even when cornering. In the event that another vehicle gets very close on the sides, the system helps to adjust the trajectory in order to avoid dangers, for a very advanced level of safety. Above a certain speed, holding the steering wheel and operating the direction indicators, the car changes lanes in the indicated direction automatically.

Not least the Smart Cruise Control (SCC), which helps the driver to maintain the distance from the vehicle in front and to drive at the speed set by the driver, following the driving style learned by the latter. When the SCC system is inactive, the function knows how to pick up the driver’s habits. When the SCC is activated, the function stops learning and guides automatically according to the acquired style.

And finally, among the most relevant systems on board, there is the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), which helps the driver avoid collisions with objects in front of the vehicle while driving. If a car in front slows down suddenly or if the car detects the risk of a front collision, such as a stationary vehicle or a pedestrian, the system issues a warning and possibly also intervenes with emergency braking. The start of production of Hyundai IONIQ 6 (which will be added to the list together with IONIQ 5) is planned in third quarter of 2022we look forward to every detail.
